Test drive of the all-new 2023 RAM 1500

For several years now, RAM has been on top of the list of most popular full-size trucks of its category. Whether it is due to its exceptional skills, its luxurious interiors or even the numerous amenities and technologies found on board, the RAM 1500 is definitely a must-see in its category.

We have taken a mid-level trim out for a test drive: the 2023 RAM 1500 Laramie. We can say, without any hesitation, that this test drive was a definite success!

Firstly, the imposing size of the RAM 1500 is truly impressive; our model also had 20- inch wheels (18- or 22- inch rims are also available) and practical power side-steps, which are offered as an option. These are definitely the perfect accessory for an easy entry and exit, in and out of the vehicle, especially if you are shorter in size.

Moreover, the 1500 Laramie that we test drove was equipped with a 6’4’’ bed and coupled with a team cab, which is the only one offered on this model. Other trims also offer a Quad cab along with a 5’ 7’’ bed.

Once inside, what seduced us the most was the comfort and elegance of the interior, without forgetting its generous dimensions. You will also find high-end trims on the doors, a 40/20/40 front seat, which is heated and ventilated, and dual zone climate control, which will help keep you cool or warm, depending on the season.

Added technologies are also numerous and truly easy to use. You will have access to the Apple CarPlay/Android Auto system and the UConnect 5 NAV system with an 8.4- inch touch screen (a 12- inch vertical screen is also offered as an option); both are incredibly performant yet very simple to use.

We also loved the power pedals with memory function along with the 12- way power seats with lumbar support, with 4- settings, which will allow you to enjoy a driving position that is adapted to your comfort and needs.

Our test drive model was equipped with an incredibly powerful 5.7 L V8 with 395 horsepower, coupled with an 8- speed automatic transmission. This powertrain provides you with quick accelerations and remarkable road handling, no matter what type of road surface you are driving on. The outstanding 4x4 capacities also make it the perfect companion for work or play.

Finally, when it comes to safety features, our test drive model was standard equipped with front collision alert with active braking; other technologies are offered as added options (or standard equipment on other trims) like Park-Sense park assist or a 360 degree towing camera, amongst other things.

In short, if you are looking for a sturdy truck whose reliability no longer has to be proven and offering an outstanding towing capacity, the 2023 RAM 1500 Laramie –or one of the other 7 available trims- is the perfect choice!
